Just saw the rerun to ‘Inside the Actors Studio’ with Dave Chappelle (again) on the hot seat. An episode, i feel, is one of the most entertaining and insightful panel of the whole series. When’s the last time you’ve seen James Lipton performing ballet moves on stage? I rest my case. In the interview, Chappelle
talks about his life story. From his childhood, his temporary stay in Africa to the launch of his own show under the Comedy Central network. Known to make audiences laugh their asses off onscreen and on TV, there was also a
side of him that we, as viewers, don’t see very often. His decision to stop the Comedy Central variety show may be tough to brush off However hearing him out, you can’t help but respect the reason behind it.

“I’m going through some real tough times, some nitty-gritty stuff,” he says. “When you go through things like this, it helps to put it all in perspective. I’m famous today. People like me today. Might not like me tomorrow. You can’t count on it. The world can’t tell you who you are. You’ve just got to figure out who you are and be there, for better or worse.”
“You can’t get un-famous…You can get infamous, but you can’t get un-famous.”

“I don’t want my life to come about enforcing boundaries. y’know, but that’s what happens when you become successful. Your humanity diminishes and you become something else to people.”

Until that day comes where people can lighten up more on humor, who knows what the future may bring to ‘Chappelle’s Show.’ For now, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.
