Bittersweet: The Rise & Fall of BBP

Posted on 01 July 2007 by Mike

‘What goes up, must come down.’ So cliche, yet so true. A figure of speech that best fits the predicament which i’m currently faced with. As CEO of BBP, it’s fortunate to see my website running for quite some time now. In fact, this coming independence day commemorates Bigg Boy Productions’ first anniversary on the net. Which would leave me to be very grateful and honored, right? Not quite. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a pretty huge accomplishment to gather up a decent amount of friends who happen to be top-notch uploaders (Tha-Industry, baby! Where it all started). Some of the members retired and never heard since, while the others (i.e. risky, mex, taint, supa) are still down Re-Upp G’s. Individually, they’ve also reached great by opening their own site.

There’s also countless number of unheard artists that I’ve interviewed and helped put their name out to the public eye. In the world of mainstream music, underground artists/musicians don’t necessarily get the attention they deserve. Which is why I believe the music being played in radio stations get so repetitive. It’s to the point where a particular club banger that you know and love, end up being nails to a chalkboard. To list a few I’ve interviewed include Dj Blade, pianist David Sides, & rapper L.E.F.T. of the Bash Bros.

After all these so-called accomplishments, I truly am happy for them, but I’ve come to the conclusion that the day BBP turns 1, I’m officially stepping down as CEO and closing Bigg Boy Productions permanently. It’s been fun, but this whole promotion/upload scene is not my steez.

Which leads to my newest project from Audio Archives. I’ll be releasing my newest and last mixtape entitled, “Grand Opening, Grand Closing.” Volume 6 from the Audio Archives series, it’s a double-cd of songs I assembled, new & old. In other words, it’s BBP’s bittersweet symphony. Four days from now, BBP celebrate’s it’s 1st year run on the net. Come July 5th 12:00 am , BBP closes it’s doors for good. Unable to download “Grand Opening, Grand Closing?” No worries, you can download it at my myspace [myspace.com/biggboy619]. Well folks, it’s been fun while it lasted. Good times indeed. I recommend going to any of the Re-Upp G’s websites:

Grime Albums [Risky]
Supa-Warez [Supa]
Hip Hop for Free [Mike aka Mr. Mex]
Mexican Taint [Taint]

CEO of BBP
