Seminal 80’s hip hop producer DJ Mark “The 45 King” partners with Scion and underground emcees Wale, Pase Rock and the 4th Pyramid in conjunction with the New York-based producers, In Flagranti, Eli Escobar and DJ Ayres to deliver a solid dose of remixes of The 45 King’s classics: “The 900 Number”, “Roof”, “Strings” and “Pyramid”. While current hip hop styles lean towards the staccato’ed and half-count beats found in Timbaland style productions, the A/V remixes retain the old school charm of say a Tribe Called Quest production. There’s plenty of East Coast heavy beats, funk samples and rhymes. This is a solid release with plenty to offer all underground aficionados and old school nodders.
