Independence Day 2007 marks Bigg Boy Productions’ 1st anniversary. 12 months serving you the illest uploads. You know the slogan: “Music, Mixtapes, Misc…BBP!” It wouldn’t be possible with a little help from my upload team, The Re-Upp Gang: Risky (grimealbums), Supa (supa-warez), Mr. Mex (hiphopforfree),Slimc, & Runningonempty.
I also managed to shed light on numerous artists/djs through the makings of BBP’s own Make it Hot! Section. From well-known artists like Kelly Rowland to undiscovered djs/musicians such as Dj Blade & pianist David Sides. In case you’re wondering, the name, ‘Make it Hot’ was based on a TV sitcom, “The Wayans Bros” Starring Shawn & Marlon Wayans. Everytime a singer/rapper makes a guest appearance, Marlon (as wild as he is) would almost always introduce them with his signature catch phrase, “Make it Hot!”
To commemorate the anniversary, I’m working on a new mixtape called, “Grand Opening, Grand Closing.” It also happens to be the last installment to the Audio Archives. Grand Opening, Grand Closing, (Audio Archives vol. 6) is a double-cd mixof songs handpicked by me. It’s basically a soundtrack to honor BBP’s greatest achievement, amongst other things.
A first-year run is worth celebrating, something to be happy about. However, July 5th, 2007 marks the day I shutdown Bigg Boy Productions for good. Closing a prominent website at it’s highest peak, it’s the best way to resign as CEO of BBP, I think. Rapper Jay-Z said it best, “To be at an all-time high, perfect time to say goodbye.” Therefore explains the double meaning to the Grand Opening, Grand Closing. It’s been a great journey, indeed. But bigg boy’s off to do bigger things. No worries though, you can still find me at myspace. Add, comment, message… whenever you’re spacing out.
Lastly, I’d like to end this post with a live performance by Jay-Z. Now I’m not gonna say the particular song, but I am going to give you a hint: It’s not ‘Encore’ =]. Peace. God Bless. Enjoy.
